The residents of Malkani Mahal building opposite Century Bazar feel somewhat vindicated by Tuesday’s verdict, which sealed the fate of Yakub Memon. The structure was reduced to ruins after a time bomb placed under a peepal tree exploded on March 12, 1993. Here's a quick look at their family-tree:

2.
Hanifa Memon (Mother)
She ran the household on an irregular income from the odd jobs her husband did

4.
Mushtaq ‘Tiger’ Memon (Son)
The man who inherited his father’s moniker was a silver smuggler

Rubina Memon (Suleiman’s wife)
A mother of two, hers was the first name to catch the police’s eye during the investigation into the blasts. A maroon Maruti van, found abandoned at Worli with AK-56 rifles and hand grenades, was found to be registered under the name of one Rubina Memon. The trail led to unravelling of the plot. Rubina defended herself saying she was a simple housewife living in an orthodox joint family with no control over the use of assets registered under her name.
Status: Rubina was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. She is lodged in Pune jail.
